A Double Date

Last friday night, Kev and I doubled dated with one of our favorite couples.....my bestie and her husband.
We met downtown/campus area at Local Taco for a couple pitchers and, you guessed it, tacos!

Megs and I have been friends since occupational therapy school. She was my Matron of honor at our wedding and not a day goes by that we don't talk in some form or fashion. We were roomies when Kev and I met. She watched every second of our story unfold and she called it years before it happened....she was the one that first said that I would marry him :-)
We are semi connected at the hip.... and I would not have it any other way!

Megs married one of my life long friends from my hometown, Justin.
(You can read about their wedding here)
We love double dating with them.

We shared lots of laughs and had such a good time with both of them.
Soooo blessed to have them in our lives

and because Kev and I had been raw dieting majority of the week, we stopped at Malone's on our way home and helped ourselves to this .... Ky bourbon butter cake. OMG!

Great way to start out our weekend!

Wedding Photos: Our First Look

11-18-12

Kev and I decided to forgo tradition, and opted to see each other before our ceremony on our wedding day.
We had a very intimate moment. Just me, him, the photographer and the videographer.
I had already started taking some bridal shots, while our coordinator wrangled Kev away from his groomsmen for our first look.
They placed me on one side of the barn and would have KR walk down the path along the barn, he would turn the corner and see his bride.

I was so nervous, emotional and happy all rolled into one.
I remember looking at my photographer and her telling me he was on his way.
I could hear his footsteps getting closer and closer.........and then there he was.
The look on KR's face when he saw me was priceless.
I have that mental snapshot burnt in my mind. I plan for it to stay there.

They filmed for just those initial seconds of seeing each other and then gave us a private moment alone.
Just the two of us!

I could never imagined how emotional we both would be.
Me? Yes! I mean I cry at commercials, but I would have never thought Kev would have been so emotional. It was such a special moment between the two of us.

That moment was my favorite moment of the entire day.
It was in that instance that all the hustle and bustle of the whole day melted away.
It didn't matter what the centerpieces looked like, how the food tasted, what guests thought of the favors, how the bridesmaids wore their hair...NONE OF IT.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED planning my wedding, but all that mattered was Kev and I showing up and declaring our love for each other in from of God, our friends and family. Nothing else!
My nerves calmed down, my emotions got in check and all I felt was love.

Here are the photos my amazing photographer captured during those first moments Kev and I saw each other as bride and groom. I hope y'all enjoy them as much as I do.

These are some of my favorites of the whole day. The feelings felt in those moments will always be so near to my heart.
I will never forget the look on Kev's face, nor the emotions that were involved in those minutes of seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day.
It will always be so intimate and special for me.

Wedding Photos: Bridal Shots

11-18-12
Here are more wedding photos from our big day.
These are some of the bridal photos our photogtapher took that sunny afternoon
in the bluegrass. We got so blessed with gorgeous 65 degree weather ....in November y'all!

*side note - most of these were taken just minutes before I saw Kev for the first time at our first look. I was so excited, emotional, nervous and happy all rolled into one :-)
I had butterflies in my stomach and tears in my eyes, waiting in anticipation of seeing my groom that day.
Can't wait to share our first look  photos on friday!

Weekend Shenannies

Linking up with Miss Sami for....

How does Monday get here so fast...and I am never excited to see it?!?!
Kev and I live for our weekends, and boy did we have a busy and fun one that just flew by.

Kev had been in NYC since Tuesday. I picked him up straight from work at the airport friday afternoon. I was so excited to wrap my arms around him.

While he was in NYC i surprised him with this lil somthin- somethin delivered to his room

It's super lil boy cheezzzzzy, and that's my favorite part about it. Thursday was 5 months since our wedding day and I though KR needed to know that Baily, Uggie Sue and I were missing him big time from home. He brought the cookies back to lex to share with me.

Friday we came home and visited with the doggies. They always get so excited when Kev comes home from a work trip. After they settled down, we decided to have dinner and drinks at GCB in Chevy Chase. We were impressed. We both had the salmon on jalapeno and cream cheese grits with fried green maters. YUMMM! We also split bread pudding with homemade KY bourbon sauce. It was like a little piece of heaven.
After dinner, we hit up the movies to watch Tom Cruise's latest, Oblivion.

Saturday we woke up to 40 degree weather in the bluegrass - WTF!!?!
Our plans to spend time on the patio were crushed, but we made the most of our day by running a ton of to-do errands.
We had a nice lunch at Harry's with sweet tea instead of cocktails.
Afterwards, we hit up bed bath and beyond, lowe's, home goods, and the starving artist gallery.
Got a new wreath for the front door, some flowers for the patio, and supplies to mulch the front and backyard.

We opted for the Saturday evening church service this week and we left feeling so blessed to be children of our mighty God. It was so powerful.

We picked up Jimmy Johns' subs on the way home and curled up on the couch with a movie. My kind of Saturday night.

Sunday we were on a mission.
I hit up the grocery to prepare for our semi-raw week that Steph is kicking off tomorrow,
and we also had all kinds of stuff to do around the house.

Kevin mulched the front yard flower/shrub bed, while I whipped it up in the kitchen all afternoon.
I have never cut up so many veggies in my life preparing for #rawweek2013.

Kev is such a trooper and is being so supportive with going on a raw diet this week with a few suggestions per him.
The only thing we are doing different is adding eggs, can't live without our hard boiled eggs, and adding some grilled veggies (made all natural) for dinner meals only. Completely raw for breakfast, lunch and snacks. I can live with that and so can Hubs.
We started yesterday and are gonna go strong till friday dinner. We can't give up our friday and saturday dinners out on the town. I can say that in 24 hours my energy and sugar levels have been much more stable. Not a single sugar crash. I have even been drinking my coffee black....this girl just doesn't do that. Steph has lots of links for recipes and meal planning. Go take a look.

We ended our weekend with dinner on our patio by the fire pit followed by our favorite, a new episode of Game of Thrones.

A fabulous weekend indeed!

Operation Patio

The husband and I love a good patio.
Like LOVE it.
Once the weather breaks in KY, you can guarantee we are sitting outside for all meals.
Last summer all of our time and attention was going toward the wedding and getting me all moved into Kev's house. We were busy lil bees. So as soon as spring hit Kentucky, we were on a full fledged mission....
aka Operation Patio.

I love coming home and having a drink with Kev on the patio
He loves eating his lunch outside with the doggies on the patio
We both love to have dinner outside on the patio
Uggie and Bailey LOVE being out on the patio
Being in nature is something we both thoroughly enjoy and we decided to spruce up the outdoor area ASAP.

We already had a table, chairs, umbrella and two wicker rockers.
We wanted to have a sitting area as well as a dinning area.
KR and I plan to host cookouts all Summer long....a shrimp boil is currently in the works.

We added a wicker love seat and two chairs, two colorful side tables, a wicker chest, a wicker bar area, two area rugs and a fire pit that my parent's got us last Christmas.

I had one request with our little adventure - BRIGHT COLORS. I wanted lots of bold and bright colors to liven up our back yard.
I HATED the cushions that came with the wicker furniture we picked out, but that can be changed out super easy....
And I found just what we were looking for a Pier1.
Ladies - they have TONS of bright, fun cushions that you can mix and match. Super cute stuff. They were having a 20% sale on most of them last weekend that they planned to extend.

Operation Patio was a success!
I still have to get my green thumb into gear and add some pretty flowers to our planters. We also plan to get lots of bright colored serving ware to add to the pieces we already have.

Uggie and Bailey totally approved and have already been loving how much time we have spending outdoors.
We have a few more decor items to add, but overall we are so pleased.
Y'all just come on over and sip some sweet tea with me in a mason jar. Mine may have bourbon it.....it's the KY girl in me :-)

Springtime in the Bluegrass

April 13th 2013 - football season returned to Kentucky.....well sorta.
It's no secret, the bluegrass state had a very difficult football season ( we won't even go there regarding our basketball season....this is Kentucky people, we are still mourning).
KY football has been resurrected by our new head coach, and there were lots of true blue fans out in full force to celebrate UK's spring practice, aka - the Blue/White game.
We are talking 50,000 plus fans out to tailgate and watch a practice.
I don't even know if there were that many fans at the last home game of the 2012 season....like I said, we struggled.

There is a new buzz around Commonwealth Stadium, a buzz that is excited for football season 2013. Who says we are just a basketball state?!? Well......we wont go in details there. No much of an argument after all.....juz bein honest!

Kev and I decided to participate in all the festivities last Saturday to cheer on the Cats!
Y'all know I broke out my boots and my Kentucky blue!
We planned all kinds of tailgating festivities with our closest friends

Was so much fun! And we are finally seeing warm weather here - thank you Spring!

After the game, hubs and I got a wild hair up our hineeys and decided to go out to a concert after the football game/practice. Who are we?!!?
Just trying to pretend we can hang....pretend is the key word there.

I managed to talk my closest girlfriends into tagging along to the downtown concert.
Of course I had packed a lil bag for us to freshen up at a friend's house...no worries!

I brought my teasing comb and was giving out poofs galore.
Brushes, nars blush and hairspray flying everywhere....felt like we were living in our college dorm all over.
Don't get me wrong, i LOVE living with my hubby, but I will always miss glam sessions in the bathroom with my guhhrrrls. 3 women sharing one mirror is priceless!

After we poofed, blushed and powdered - we were ready to see Chris Knight in concert.

Chris Knight was playing at one of mine and Kev's favorite local venues - Busters.
And boy did he put on a show....

We sang the night away to some good music, sipped on some good drinks and enjoyed some good company.

A great way to kick off some springtime weekend fun!

all of the above may have resulted in a late night date trip to Waffle House. I can't tell you the last time I had been on the inside of that place. I know y'all wont judge me....cause that waffle and those hashbrowns covered and smothered were dammmnnnn good!
