Christmas Morning Ya'll

Christmas day is usually pretty laid back at my parent's house.
Santa still comes and visits baby bro and I. Yep we are those kids....still.
Late Christmas Eve, after the extended family leaves us for the night, just the 4 of us exchange presents. It's one of my favorite parts of Christmas. Not because of the gifts, but the intimacy and love surrounding those moments when it is just daddo, mama, baby bro and myself.
The night is never complete until my dad says his famous words. "Guys, it's been a good Christmas" and my brother would always say as a little boy, "yeah dad - and santa hasn't even came yet"
It has always, always just been the 4 of us.
Last year, KR is the only other person to ever be part of that tradition. And I hope he is the only one that ever will be. Sorry little bro - you aren't allowed to ever get married or engaged. Your mama and I just cant take it.

We typically spend Christmas day in our PJs eating leftovers and playing with all our new toys. Santa doesn't wrap our "santa" presents and my brother and I don't enter the living room without waking the other up first. It's a rule. No matter the time, Mom and Dad wake up and watch us go through our gifts. I remember when we were little, there was a rule we couldn't get up before 5am. Now I realize we had to give Santa plenty of time to get all the Barbie Dreamhouse decals on as well as assemble matchbox car racetracks.
Mama usually makes a big country breakfast and we spend the day just soaking  up each other's company.

This year was a little different since Christmas day fell on a Sunday. It was a family must to attend church that morning per mama's orders. Jesus is the reason ya know. We still managed to find our way into our pjs late afternoon with a full belly. It was all perfect.

This is Mom and Dad's tree. They always get a real tree that is full of colored lights, homemade ornaments, memories and one of mama's original big red bows.

Oh if you all only understood the comments that take place before family photo's like these.
Let's just say daddo and baby bro may not understand the bloggin bizznass or the need to just capture all of life's moments via the camera.

I asked dad and baby bro to pose for a quick shot....and of course this is what I got.

And it is a guaranteed laugh every time my dad gets behind the camera.
At least he got some of our bodies in the photo. Usually it's head shots only because of my dad's 6'9" height. He is getting better....slowly.

OK lets be clear....my mama is not this tall. She barely comes to his chest. Mama hardly leaves the house though without her 4inch heels. Gosh I wish we had the same size shoe.

Oh baby bro....and that ever growing chia-pet on his head.  I can't even talk about it.

This is the baby Jesus in my mom's nativity scene. She handmade it years ago. It is my favorite Christmas decoration.
Growing up, there were many fights between baby bro and I over who would place the baby Jesus.
I am pretty sure there were tears at times.

And every year mama buys me and baby bro an ornament.
This year she had them both on the dinning room table until I got home for Christmas. It was only then that we were allowed to hang them on the tree.

This is baby bro's

and of course I always have the holiday Barbie

I snapped some other photos of a few of my favorite ornaments on the Christmas tree.

Little me and itty bitty baby bro

It kinda breaks my heart that this was Bailey's 5th Christmas.

Oh why that would be me. i think this was the 3rd grade.

of course this ornament refers to me

I had to look really hard for this one....but i found it.

That wraps up 2011's Christmas posts.
I have loved reading about all of your holidays and traditions so much. How did I live without you in my life before???
Cheers to 2012 ladies...it's gonna be a good one!!

A Country Christmas Eve

Twas the night before Christmas
at my mama and daddy's house......

Hey ya'll!
Christmas eve is one of my favorite nights of the year.
All of my daddy's side of the family comes over and we eat, drink and be merry.
My dad and his brothers have literally spent every Christmas in this house.
It is the oldest tradition in my family.

Meet Granny B.
Isn't she a cutie? At 87 years old she is still going strong.
She is the tie that keeps us all together.
I love her so much.

Granny B had 3 rotten boys.
My daddy (her baby) on the far left, Uncle Doug is in the middle (the most rotten), and Uncle John on your far right.

Poor Granny...raising the three mean ass boys.
My papaw is the only living grandparent I don't have.
He died right before my mom found out she was preggers with me.
My mom says he would have just loved me and baby bro.

And these are their three wives
aka my only aunts.
Mama is an only child.

Each one family had two children.
Uncle John = 2 girls
Uncle Doug = 2 boys
My daddy -  1 boy and 1 Girl

For a long, long time it was just baby brother as the youngest grandchild. There are 5 years between him and the 2nd youngest grandchild.
Only one grandchild is married and has children.

(pic actually from 2010)

Thanks to him we have Miss Kyleigh and Miss Kimber to make Christmas so much more fun

They are Granny B's only great grandchildren.

Here are some pictures from our great night.
Oh how I love Christmas!

My cousin Allie and Aunt Angie

Mama and her babies

All of the grandchildren with granny B...except for Paul who had to run off and play santa. If ya know what I mean.
Also missing is Amy who is such a party pooper and refuses to have her picture taken year after year.
Ah...guess there is one in every family.
I kid I kid.

And this is my favorite pic of the night.
These two birds were my first friends. Isn't that what they say about your first cousins? There is less than a year between the three of us. So many memories and homemade VHS consists of the three of us raising all sorts of you know what. Gosh how time flies. Every Christmas our parents would put us on the steps and make us take a picture just like the one below.
I think my mom and my aunts teared up a lil bit when we showed them this...
There is truly no greater gift than family.
I soaked mine up all weekend.
Hope you all had a great Christmas as well!

O Christmas Tree part II

Well we finally got around to putting lights and decorations on our 1st real Christmas tree.
KR and I have both had crazzzzzy work weeks and we took a night off to focus on the task at hand.
We blasted out some Christmas music, ate a bowl of cereal (our fave), turned on Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation and enjoyed our evening together.

KR was a master at the lights,
with my direction of course.
:-)

Lights were a success

Taking a break after getting most of the ornaments on

Drum roll please.......
and the final product
TaaaaDaaahh

We loves it

and master bailey loves it too

And just to prove we wear things other than sweats around here....
Our first holiday pics in front of the pretty tree.

Merry Christmas Ya'll.
i hope you take the time to remember the true meaning for the season.

Be careful out there this weekend finishing up all your shopping.

ornament tradition

so i love ornaments! I like to get several ornaments each Christmas to celebrate the year.

My mom still buys me Barbie ornaments. Still.

I bet I have over 30 of them. I guess there were a few years in there where she bought me more than one. One day, when she finally hands them over to me, I want to have a Barbie Christmas tree. Would be so precious in a little girl's room.

Below are just some of the ornaments KR and I have collected over the past couple of years.
(KR=kevin rex ..yeah he kinda has two names. his name is kevin. people call him rex. i call him KR on the blog. strange, i know)

Anywho, Kevin's last name starts with the letter "W" and my first name starts with "W" ...duh.
And lets just say I get a little "W" crazy at times.

I bought us this lil ornament in 2009. It was handmade by a former patient of mine who had a holiday booth at the hospital that year.
It was our first real Christmas together.
He came home with me to my parents that year.
It was all so new and full of puppy dog eyes and butterflies.

The back of the ornament says Christmas 2009 at Cannock.
Cannock was the street where we first met. He was sitting outside with his dog one day, Uggie. He hates when I say that I totally noticed the dog before I noticed him. Yet, it is so true.

Our first apt was on that street.
So many good memories there
We met as strangers and I feel in love with him on that street....makes ya wanna gag huh?
He told me he loved me for the 1st time on Cannock Drive
We had so many 1sts on Cannock...1st kiss, 1st fight, 1st time the doggies lived together, 1st Thanksgiving together as hosts.
You get the picture.
Cannock will always be special to me

I had this ornament made last year.

Every year Santa's Pen opens it kiosk doors at the local mall
and every year this girl spends a fortune on custom made ornaments.
i think they make the best little gifts

And this year....
I got us this one

I snapped that photo and then and then i literally dropped it on the tile floor and shattered in into about 4 different pieces. UGGGGHH  ARRRGGGHH. Breaking out the super glue asap.
And it will hang sooo pretty on the Christmas tree.

Do you buy certain ornaments each year?
