Wrapping up the Weekend

Kev and I have been spending a lot of time at home on the weekends feeding our souls with a lot of the following:
TLC time
time with the doggies
time with The Good Wife season 1 on dvd
time decorating the man pad and turning it into a home
time around our new Kitchen table (post to come)
time working on DIY projects
and time together with the man up above
Life is so good!

Just a few pictures to capture our weekend at it's finest.

So we buy both of the doggies lots of toys. In fact, we have two or three of these jumbo bones around the house.
However, it never fails that they want the SAME bone to work on.
It is a constant game of cat and mouse to see who can chase who and who gets the bone.
Nine times out of 10 Uggie Sue always wins.
Bailey may or may not be a wimp be a gentleman and lets her win all the time occasionally.
As you can see, the princess does not like to share and was in dismay that Bailey was working on her bone.

The reached an agreement with our help

The weather around here has been to die for.
The house backs up to an old horse farm and I just never get tired of this view.

Kev and I attended a Toy Chest meeting on Saturday. The Toy Chest is a non profit organization that Kev and I are proud to be a part of . You can read about it here. KR is on the board of the organization and this was my first volunteer meeting. I love seeing Kev in action in meetings. He can command a room....and it is soooo hot :-). Our dear friend Ron and KR have been working their tales off to get this organization started. I can't wait to see where this thing goes.

After our meeting, we opted for the Saturday evening church service. I seriously can't imagine leaving Lex because I can't imagine ever leaving our church. We get sooo much out of it and are so blessed to have found it. Hard to believe it has been over a year since we both set foot in those doors.... and what a blessing it was.

After church, we stuffed our bellies with some seafood at Bonefish Grill. I know it's not a local lexington spot, but we due tend to be regulars there. We like to sit at the bar and chow down on bang bang shrimp, their house salad with blue cheese crumbles, baja fish tacos for me and ahi tuna sashimi for Kev. It's almost a weekly staple in our diet. I may have had to unbutton my jeans before we walked out of the door. Won't be the first time I have done that and won't be the last. This gal likes to eat!

Sunday we took a day off and just caught up on house work and some needed couch time.
There was a lot of this
And some household projects in the garage
followed by more of this
and this
and it was all greeeeat!

I live for our weekends.

Y'all asked for it

and y'all shall receive :-)
A lot of gals asked for the recipe for the cheeseburger deep dish pizza that I made last weekend.

It's a recipe from pampered chef and the majority of even their "bad" stuff is still relatively healthy.
I love me some pampered chef and will share some secrets in future posts.
Their stuff is da bomb!!

Ingredients
 - 1 pkg refrigerated pizza crust (do not use thin crust...it wont work people...enjoy the extra calories and don't bish about it)
- 1 1lb 90% ground beef
- 1 medium onion chopped
-1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
-1/2 cut Ketchup
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
-1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2-3 plum tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cup 4 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup  ( 2oz shredded cheddar cheese)
*not gonna lie, i added a little extra cheese, i mean it was saturday night people

- preheat oven to 400 degrees
- unroll dough onto bottom of a 12 inch skillet (oven safe). Gently stretch and press dough to cover evenly. Press the dough about 1 inch up sides to form crust. Bake 12-15 mins or just until beginning to brown and then remove from oven and let cool.

-meanwhile, brown beef in skillet breaking into crumbles
-after browning meat, drain and put in mixing bowl
- add ketchup, mustard, onion, worcestershire sauce and black pepper and mix well

-spread beef mixture over crust, top with tomatoes and cheese (I added more veggiess like green pepper, olives and so on. I also added pepperoni for kev)

-bake 10 to 12 mins or until golden brown and cheese are melted

remove from oven, slice away and enjoy!

A Successful Saturday

Saturday was a very productive day for KR and I
We spruced up the garage
Went to the gym
Watched the Cats bring home a W
Watched Syracuse loose, giving us our number one spot back.
Feels good to be on top again.
Watched Duke lose at home- ending their home winning streak which just happened to be the streak closest to UK's.
Yep, the Wildcats are still holding strong at home. We haven't lost at the famous Rupp Arena in 47 games.
Boooya!
Ok, ok you get the point...it was a good weekend for the Cats.

We also ran around Lex for some errands for Kev's house. We are slowly getting in back in order and it is no longer is looking like a bachelor pad. Yay!

We have been quite the hermits this winter and have been feeding our souls with a little TLC at home. The thing is, we really enjoying being at home on the weekends. So that is just what we did.

Kev made us a big fire for the four of us to snuggle up by

Uggie clearly helped him

Doesn't it look so homey??

I can't even begin to describe how much my dog loves laying by the fire or the space heater for that matter.
We spent the evening by the fire and just enjoying life's latest blessings.

Since we opted not to eat out, I broke out  my cooking skills and whipped us up a cheeseburger deep dish pizza and it was heaven.

We ate pizza, drank blue moons and caught up on season one of The Good Wife. Btw, this is my new favorite show and I am slowly getting KR on the bandwagon.
Saturday was a success- yes indeedeey!

We are half way through the work week....thank goodness!

My new baby

So I got this little baby for Christmas.

Santa totally hooked me up.

However, I have no clue how to work the thing yet.
So far I have figured out how to turn it on and off, operate the self timer, turn the flash on and off annnnnnnnd that about sums it up.
I am not the most patient person to sit down and read instructions or a manual.
I like to think I am a hands on learner.

Maybe this would help...

After my getting the scoop on a tripod from my girl Kate, this is currently in the mail
I give you the gorilla tripod and I am PUMPED!!
Next on the list is a fun camera strap.
At least if I can't operate the thang, I can still make it look cute.
Priorities people! Priorities.

So any tips on how to learn the tricks of the trade with a new camera.
Now I am not trying to be the world's next photographer, but i know there is some kind of crash course out there for me for basic photo taking.
Any advice gals??

He's Home

So Kevin Rex has the luxury of working from home 90 percent of the time.
I get sooooo jealous.
But in all reality, it takes A TON of self-discipline to work from home. Sure, it is nice to wake up and be in your office wearing your pajammies, but it takes major self motivation to get sh*t done. I would get too distracted with stuff around the house and a millzion other things to take my mind off of work.
He does an Ahhmazing job at it. On the days I am off and he is working from home, I listen in on some of his calls and he kicks ass at his job. He deals with people all over the country each day, and to be charismatic and command a room through technology and conference calls can not be done by just anybody.
But I hear him do it daily :-)
His brain continuously blows my mind.

So back to the reason for the post.
On occasion Kev must travel for work.
And on occasion he gets to go to really cool cities across the country and  sometimes I get to tag along.
And that is awesome!
Especially when he travels to sunny Florida.
Yet I have to admit, I am super selfish and hate when he is gone.
It throws mine and the doggies routine into total chaos.
The doggies are used to him being home with them and to be totally honest, I hate staying alone.
I know I need to get over it and grow up, but i am the biggest baby.
Thank goodness for little brothers who just live 20 mins down the interstate to keep me company at night.
Ok that just sounded strange.
Let's try again.
Thank goodness for the little brother who sleeps on the couch, babysits me, and keeps all the monsters away late at night.
You would think my loaded gun would do the trick.
Hey this girl ain't afraid to use it.

Now don't get me wrong, this gal loves her alone time.
When KR travels, I fill my scheduled up with gal-pal dates, bloggy catch up, complete control of the DVR, and a little pampering.
I just hate sleeping in an empty house alone.
Weird huh? I know what you're thinking...Why doesn't she stay at her palace?
Well, truth be told, it is a nightmare lugging not one, but two dogs up three flights of stairs in the freeeeezing cold for potty breaks. Plus Uggie Sue is a pure devil when it comes to steps. It hurts her lil hips.
And I also really enjoy our weekly routines together.
Ok, you get the point...I like it when KR is home.

But this little girl HATES HATES HATES IT when he is away even more than me.

Not only does she become my shadow with every step I take, but she becomes the most fussy thing on the face of this earth. She also goes into fits where she scratches her chest RAW. It's pretty much a disaster. She is totally her daddy's girl and can't function without him here. Poor thing.

Needless to say, when KR came home middle of last week we were thrilled.
These were taken moments after he walked through the door.

Ahhh life is good again for the doggies.
I know you non dog peeps may think I am crazy, but I swear it's like they know he is the head of our little family. They are soooo much more calm and restful when he is home. Plain and simple.

While distance definitely makes my heart grow fonder, it feels so great to have us all home together again.

And his favorite girls are definitely sleeping so much better now....

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Happy Monday gals and guys!

A Country Music Queen

Did ya'll know that this fine lady was supposed to come to Lexington tomorrow night?!?!

Kev bought us tickets way back when they first went on sale. Thank goodness because it is a sold out show.

While I planned on rocking my cowboy boots and  my inner most country girl to sing along with her, it won't be happening.
Major sad face.
Miranda announced today that she is rescheduling some of her tour dates due to the recent death of her father-in-law.

We got this email today
Singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert has rescheduled this weekend’s shows of her “On Fire” Tour, due to the death of her father-in-law, Dick Shelton who passed away Tuesday in Oklahoma. Miranda has rescheduled Charlotte, NC (1/19), Lexington, KY (1/20) and Greensboro, NC (1/21). Mr. Shelton, who had been in declining health for the past year, was surrounded by loved ones upon his passing.

Miranda said, “Thank you to the fans for all the support and prayers. This is a really difficult time for our family and the most important thing is being together. Tell your loved ones you love them. See you next week.”

Super sad for them :-(

I enjoy both Miranda and Blake's music and country swag.
In fact, I cant not get enough of Miranda's new album: Four The Record

My favorites are
1. Over You
2. Baggage Claim (duh!)
3. Mama's Broken Heart
 4. All kinds of Kinds

I love her older stuff too and just to name a few, here are some of my faves from previous albums,
Only Prettier
Bring Me Down
Kerosene
Heart like Mine
Gunpowder and Lead

I hear her shows are supposed to be amazing live.
She gets added bonus points for bring Chris Young and Jerrod Neimann to town too.
Kev and I love us some country music concerts and let's be honest, what is not to love about Miranda Lambert?

Warm wishes, thoughts, and prayers to Miranda and Blake this weekend.

Freakin love them!!!
Can't wait to see her show in February!
Gonna be a blast.

My Kinda Saturday Night

Last Saturday night the snow kept pouring down

Kev's house backs up to an old horse farm. I love not having neighbors behind us. Can you see the old fence posts? They are my favorite.

We originally had planned on getting all dressed up and going out to a nice dinner and drinks.
The weatherman had different plans and we decided to spend the night all tucked in at the house.
With.....

Chicken Margherita Pizza

Light Signature Salad from Cosi

and some of these

My favorite type of brewski

The doggies loved every second of it.
They are so peaceful and calm when we are at home with them.

They have a whole couch and look where they both wanna lay

We got a redbox and spent the night in enjoying each other's company.
Who needs a nice night out when you have this?
My favorite kind of wintry Saturday night.

Makeup Time

So this past weekend I did a little damage at Macy's and Sephora. It feel like I was out of everrrrrything and had to stock up on my daily necessities. Not to mention I am pale as a ghost and I finally had to drop down a hue to not look so orange in the winter months. Ugh...I hate winter. I refuse to lay in the tanning bed, however I am a sucker for the versa spray tan. Regardless I needed new foundation and powder. As bad I wanted to use my summer colors, I had to face the music.  Here a couple of the products I picked up.

I recently tried a lot of Chanel products back in the summer and I wasn't too impressed. I went back to my old faithful...M.A.C. I like it just as much and it is not near as expensive.

Studio Fix powder plus foundation in NC35

I like this because it's a one-step application of foundation and powder. I don't wear a lot of makeup to work. A major perk of working as a therapist, it is not a beauty pageant. In fact, heavy makeup is frowned upon. Or at least I would be the odd man out. I secretly love that I don't have to get all dolled up for work though. Anywho, back to the product, I use this daily when I don't want to do a liquid foundation. It's a lot quicker. It goes on smooth and leaves a matte finish. Another major plus is that it is long lasting and gives good coverage.

I also go the Pro Longwear Foundation in NC35

This is the first time I have tried it. I am usually a Studio Fixed Fluid kinda gal, but I wanted to give this a trial.
So far so good. It feels much lighter than the Studio Fixed Fluid foundation and M.A.C claims it lasts up to 15 hours. Now I don't know about that, but I do feel it lasts longer. It's medium coverage, but you can do a light amount for less coverage or add more for heavier coverage. That is what I LOVE about it.

M.A.C. Studio Finish concealer

So i confess, I am a picker. Meaning I have a problem picking my face. My dermatologist wants to kill me. I make blemishes a million times worse on my face because I cant keep my fingers out of them. Gross I know. This concealer covers those babies up. I don't like it for under my eyes though. It brings out major yellow undertones in my olive skin. But to cover those blemishes and nasty places on my face, this is my go to.

Nars Blush in Orgasm.
My favorite blush EVER! It adds just the right amount of pink/rosy tints to the cheeks. Can't go without it.

Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

My. Favorite! Enough said.
It never leaves me feeling greasy and that is why I love it.

Clinque All About Eyes
Clinique All About Eyes Rich, .5 oz
It helps reduce puffiness and those bags that creep up under the eyes. It is supposed to assist with reducing fine lines too. I am trying to give my skin a little extra TLC as I am getting older.

I got a few other new things that I haven't really gotten to trial yet. Will let you know the verdict soon.
What's in your makeup routine??

Ra Ra Random

So there are lots of getting to know you games floating around in the blog world. While I usually don't jump on board with the tagging and bloggy awards (if you do ...more power to ya), I thought it would be fun to answer some of the questions I have been tagged to. Let's be honest...I am home sick today stuck on the couch with nothing else to do. Hope you enjoy!

My girl Sarah tagged me and asked the following on her bloggy
{1} If you could go anywhere in the world, money not being an issue, where would you go and why?
I have always been fascinated with Fiji and would love to spend a week or two there in my own little hut. With KR of course :-)

{2} What's the craziest thing you've ever done?
hmmmm....I have to admit I am not one for wild and crazy. I bungee jumped once. Does that count?

{3} If you could have any car in the world what would you choose?
I am not really into fancy cars. Quite frankly, I don't get the need for them. I have always wanted a little red corvette. However, I would never splurge big on a car. I would splurge on a big SUV when I have a ton of kiddos and dogs to haul around in the back seat. The redneck country girl  in me would much rather have a big loaded pickup truck versus some little schmancy sports car.

{4} If you could have dinner with 3 people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
a. My dad's dad aka Papaw Wid. He is the only grandparent I never met. All my grandparents are still living and I am so blessed to have them in my life. I would have loved to have met my papaw too. I know my brother and I would have been so special to him just as he would have been to us.
b. Oprah Winfrey - because I think she is one of the geniuses of our generations. I would just love to be in her presence to feel her strong spiritual energy.
c. Jesus Christ - i don't think this one needs an explanation

{5} Least favorite chore.
Laundry! I hate everything about it. You have to sort it, load it, change it out, fold it and then put it away. Ugh. Thank goodness KR does most of the laundry duties around here and doesn't gripe a gripe.

{6} What's the best vacation you've been on?
A cruise with Kev to the Bahamas summer of 2009. It was our first "big" trip together and our first cruise. The whole trip was fabulous - the weather, the food, the drinks, the scenery! It was on the back of the cruise ship that I knew I was in love with him. Well I knew there was something about him the first day I met him, but that's a story for a different day.

{7} What was your first concert?
The first big concert in an arena I went to was Brooks & Dunn with Martina McBride and Clay Walker at Rupp Arena. I remember my mama took me and I got to bring a friend for an overnight out of town trip. We stayed in a hotel downtown Lexington. I thought I was so cool.

(8} What is your food weakness?
I am a sucker for ice cream. I probably have it every day of my life. Now it may just be a spoonful, but I still eat it daily. The only time I don't eat it is when it is not in the freezer because I don't have self-control when it comes to sweets. None!

{9} What's your favorite part about blogging?
Definitely meeting all the amazing gals and having such a supportive community of women. It blows my mind when I sit down and think about it. It is a very powerful network and I am so glad I am a part of it.

{10} How many first kisses have you had?
I do not kiss and tell :-) However, the first time Kev kissed me I thought fireworks were going off in the sky. True story.

{11} What would your dream job be?
I have two.
1. A country music superstar.
I can not even begin to tell you how much I love country music. It is music to my soul. It is all I have ever been raised on. I feel like each song tells is a story about my background. Sometimes I sing it so loud in my car that I give myself a headache.
Just call me Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert
2. I would have a house on tons of land with a big insulated barn and just save, rescue and adopt doggies. I mean as many dogs as I could take and shower them with love and affection.  I think this is somewhat of a more realistic dream job. I could totally see Kev and I doing this on a small scale in the future.

Miss Ashley also tagged me and asked these:
{1} What was the last thing you bought?
Makeup. I went to Macy's yesterday and tore the MAC counter up. I also went to Sephora and did a little damage there. I was out of everything.

{2} What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning
Already dreading the gym. I don't know why i wake up dreading it. I am not a morning person at all. Don't mess with me until I get at least 2 cups of coffee in me.

{3} What did you do for your last birthday
A combination of time with family, girlfriends and  KR.
Well you can read all about that here and here.

{4} What was the last thing you ate?
I had a bowl of cereal for lunch....it was the only thing that sounded appetizing

{5}  If you had to choose between Facebook and Blogger? which one?
hmmm...that is a hard one. lately i am spending much more time on blogger than facebook.

{6} Name three things that make you happy.
That is easy.
Family
KR
and
The doggies

(7) What is one of your resolutions for 2012?
Kind of a lame one, but to get better committed to my gym routine. I can always talk myself out of going.

{8} What would you do if you were given one million dollars?
A combination of taking care of my family, pampering myself a little, investing, donating, building a dog shelter and taking an overindulgent vacation.

(9} What would your theme song be when walking into a room?
that would just depend on the day and the mood. there is no way i could pick just one.

(10)What is something you wish you could change?
About myself? Well, that is they way I will interpret it. I wish i didn't care so much about making other people happy. I spread myself too thin doing that sometimes and sacrifice my own happiness. Hey, but we are all a work in progress.

(11) What is your favorite television show.
Currently, The Good Wife on NBC. I am obsessed.

If ya'll have any other questions you just let me know.
I would be more than happy to answer.

Just Some Things...

I just needed ya'll to know that I finally have a blog button.
About time huh?
My girl Jenn hooks me up with all the things i have no cue how to do fab for the blog.

So grab away on the right side my pretties :-)

I am also getting down with inner social network addict and added
Pinterest, Twitter and Email links via the left handed sign of your computer

Ya know, so i can be more easily accessible to you ladies...ha!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Snow Day

Last night central KY got the first snow of 2012.

We woke up  to this

Oh how I wish we could still have a snow day and not go out in the blustery cold for work today.

It is freeeeeezing outside.

We kept warm last night through some self entertainment with the doggies.
We live exciting lives around here (insert sarcasm), but I wouldn't have it any other way. :-)
This is how I would rather spend my snow day instead of working hard for that money.

Bailey freezes his little paws off and tries to turn into a lapdog to keep warm

Kevin Rex tickling Uggie Sue.
She loves it.

Lovin and so thankful for our little family.
Definitely wanting to just stay home with them today.
Thank goodness it is friday!
