Bailey's Big Day

I know, I know…I am a crazy dog owner. I don’t dress my dog up in child’s clothing, however I do take him to see Santa clause
Exhibit A:

Buy him birthday cakes from the dog Barkery
Exhibit B:

Bought a king size bed so we both will have plenty of room. Hey, my dog is nearly 100 pounds. He takes up a lot of space people!
Exhibit C

But today was a special day for my 4 legged child and I. Back story: KR worked from home and was able to stay home with the doggies during the day. The got to play and potty as frequently as they pleased. Clearly that isn’t happening anymore, duh. I totally understand that my Bailey boy is a dog, but I have struggled leaving him locked up in my lil palace all day long while I am at work. It literally breaks my heart L . I hate it! He is home all day alone and when I get home from work, I feel awful about leaving him to run errands, go to the darn gym, etc. Bailey and I do go to the dog park on a regular basis, however with the stupid heat wave and fabulous KY humidity (a lil sacrasm if you will), we just haven’t been able to go. Boxers are very high energy and hyperactive dogs. He turned 5 years old in April and still plays like a giant puppy. I have wanted to take him to doggy day care for a while, but most places don’t open till 7, and I start seeing my first patient at the hospital at 7am pronto. I usually get there by 645am. I even took advice from our Vet about looking into a doggy nanny. Who knew there was such a thing?? I have been a wreck over the whole situation and after constant debates on what to do, a ray of sunshine came beaming through.

Bailey and I were at the park last Sunday and there was a new sign hanging on one of the fences advertising Dogtown. The sign said something along the lines of ….

We offer supervised cage-free group play in downtown Lexington!
Our indoor and outdoor play areas (with grass and mulch, not concrete!) allow your dog to run and play with friends all day

Perfect! I thought to myself, but I already thought in my head that this sounded to good to be true. I also doubted they would be open before 7 am. They are also located very close to the hospital which would be mega convenient. Well what the heck, I at least decided I would give them a call. The guy answered the phone and I immediately asked what their hours were. He replied “630am-630pm.”

I said “excuse me…well what is the earliest I can drop him off”
and he replied “ 630am ”

I almost peed my pants a little. We chatted and he agreed to let me bring Bailey Boy in for an interview this morning bright and early at 630 am

Of course my bailey boy passed with flying colors.

We got there and he did a lil meet and greet and sniffy sniff of several dogs that had already arrived for the day. Bailey is super friendly and gets along so well with other dogs. I have had him in a park since he was 6 months old and has always been mr. social butterfly. Doesn’t meet a stranger…dog or human. He is such a ham!

I was so proud of him today. We did all the paperwork and I got all the details and overall, felt really good about our “trial run” today. Then my bailey boy proved what a mama’s boy he is. I left him in the play area and he started crying a lil bit L . I think he was just whining around because he was in an unfamiliar environment and all.

BROKE.MY.HEART.IN.TWO!

The owner was great. He told me to feel free and call and check on bailey. I think he could tell I am one of those crazy think my dog is a real person type of dog owners.

I felt like a mommy dropping her baby off to kindergarten. I know…I am such a nerd. And then I called twice before lunchtime to check on him. Bigger nerd. The owner said he was doing GREAT. My heart was thrilled.

I picked him after work. I got to peak in without him seeing me when I got there and he was living it up with all the other doggies. It was a great setup. They have an indoor and outdoor area. Clearly they have been inside due to all the excessive heat. The only time the dog is caged is for meals to avoid food aggression. It is a win -win for me. He is entertained and well taken care of during the day, it is very affordable, he gets to be with other dogs, and he gets plenty of exercise. The owner’s first words to me upon pickup were “he played so hard.” Boy did he! I got home and my lil bailey boy has not stopped sleeping. He is all tuckered out and just exhausted. I am so pleased with my experience there today. And Bailey boy is definitely going to be a regular and quite the socialite at dog town. So excited for him!
Mission Accomplished!

I got home and got mr. bailey boy settled and he passed out on his spot of the couch asap. I put on my bikini, cracked open a Stella, grabbed my solo cup, and headed to the pool to tan my buns for an hour or two all my myself…it was MARVELOUS. I called my brother on the way down to the pool. He said “sis, you seem so happy.” I replied, “Bub, I am. And I am just in a really good place.” That I am! It was the perfect way to unwind from this week. The even better news is that I don’t have to work tomorrow and get to spend the weekend with my awesome gal pals. Another girls night is in store, along with skinny girl ritas poolside, and a lil shopping. Cant wait!

One other tidbit, I went to a movie tonight with my besties. We saw Crazy Stupid Love. I enjoyed it…typical chick flick/romantic comedy. I just have one question…when did Ryan Gosling become so freakin hott? Like out of control, makes my teeth sweat, steamy, smoking HOTTT. Ladies, just go see it for the eye candy. I mean seriously?!?!

Also, just wanted to continue to say thanks from the outpouring of love, encouragement, and support all of you have given me. This is exactly why I love blogging so much! I am so excited about all of my new followers and all the amazing comments. And a big shout out to my girl, Kate for sending me so much love. ADORE her! I am working on getting back to every single one of you.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Auntie Whitney

No no no, my baby brother is not having a child! Hold on to you panties mom! But I am going to be an honorary auntie to my bff’s baby boy, lil Trigg. Only a few more weeks and I cant wait to spoil him rotten every single chance I get.

I have had a hard a time being away from home and missing my bff’s pregnancy. It has actually been really hard. I think I was even more emotional about it because while I was home I got to unload on her about the breakup in person. So much of our relationship is over the phone, and I must say we do a darn good job of it, however, it was so nice to have a shoulder to lean on in person. I love her so much and she will never know what her friendship means to me. I am so happy for her and her hubby and I cant wait to be a part of this child’s life. I just tear up thinking about it. I mean it seems like just not that long ago we were the lil cheerleaders, getting our first cars (and wrecking them), joining sororities, going away to college, talking/crying/laughing about boys, and living it up on the weekends. She has been there for me through the thickest and the thinnest and continues to do that to this day. Now here she is starting her own family. I am so proud of her and I already know she is going to be an amazing mom to that little boy. This child is so blessed to have parents like Katrina and Will and one day he will know it J love you trinabell!

I got to travel home to Eastern Ky for the baby shower. It was such a great distraction during the headache and nastiness of the breakup. Here are some photos from the shower:

Katrina's mom, katrina, katrina's aunt, and katrina's sister who is also preggo (only 2 weeks ahead of katrina)

Love her!

Miss Megan came :)
Such a fun time with old friends and family!

This week is flying by for me. Getting back into the work grove has been the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I feel so strong and peaceful this week. I have been getting really into work, hitting the gym, taking bailey boy to the dog park, catching up on all my trashy tv, and just doing ME! I can just feel love wrapped all around me from friends, family, and God above. Life is good and this too shall pass.

I seriously dont know what i would do with out this guy. Carrie Underwood said it best when she sang:

the more boys i meet....the more i love my DOG

Amen Sista! This little guy has been my saving grace. He knows the days that are the hard ones and he knows the days that are the good ones. He just has that sixth sense and he hasn't left my side. My bailey boy has been there every step of the way. He looks at me with his sweet lil eyes and says "mom, it is gonna be okay." That it is! :)

Happy Tuesday y'all !  I appreciate all of the sweet comments and support that you all have poured in! Girl power is just awesome!

Hello everyone!
I apologize for being MIA and by not commenting on all your amazing blogs. I am going through some major changes and an upside down life moment. More details to come...it will make for a hell of a blog post. I'm okay...and for my close friends reading this, I am sorry I have not called, texted, or emailed. Just have needed a little time for Moi. Things are definitely going to be more than okay, and I am going to come out on the other side of this as a better and stronger person. Love you all!

random week rewind

Man...what a week!  Things have been a lil stressful. Let me have a lil pity party for just a quick minute. Hey, it's my blog and I'll cry if I want to.

I developed some major sinus/allergy crud causing me to have an Eeyore cloud over me all week.

Due to the fact that I felt like my head was going to explode at any moment, I have not been to the gym once this week. Me = major fatty/couch potato. I have had ice cream every night this week a few times this week. I am justifying it because of my achy throat.

Work has been craaaazzzzzynesss, and it was only a 4 day work week for me. How did that happen?

On top of all that yuck...I am SO UPSET over the verdict of the Casey Anthony Trial or as Nancy Grace refers to her as "Tot MOM." I have been glued to the coverage and I was crushed when I heard the jury's verdict at work Tuesday. Very disappointing!  I think it just added to the gloomy cloud. I still can't turn it off the television. I think in the back of my mind I think there is going to be a "breaking news" caption to pop up saying she is guilty. Only in Whitney's world huh? stupid reasonable doubt and lack of DNA at the crime scene. #major suck!

ok, ok, ok...enough of the gloom...let's shine some sunshine on this post.

Well I do confess. I am in love.....with the Duchess of Cambridge aka Kate Middleton. This girl does no wrong in my book. She makes it all look so timeless, effortless, and of course fabulous. Rumor on the street is that she doesn't even have a stylist. This is a DIY gal and I adore it.  I have the biggest girl crush on her....it may be bigger than the one I used to have on Prince William at age 15.

Isn't she just beautiful?

We are enjoying the entry way shelf we got from Pottery Barn. It is the top shelf with the baskets and hooks in the photo below. Super cute.

I started putting together one of the guest rooms...also known as Bailey's bedroom. Bailey always starts the night off in his bed that lays right next to my side of the bed. However, by the end of the night....this is what happens....

He gets under the cover himself...no help from me...swear!

Needles to say, Bailey's bedroom hasn't had a lot of tender loving care. I also don't have the heart to take it away from him. I may be singing a different tune when I put our new bedding on the bed we scored at the 4th of July sale at Macy's. Maybe I will leave the bedding off and he can sleep in his own set of sheets till we have guests. Yes, my 4 legged child has his own set of sheets. Don't judge me hehe. Moving on... here are a few sneak peaks of the work in progress.

I am spending Friday night in with the doggies...catching up on our mindless summer TV, including the premier of Big Brother season 13, and eating take out (i promise I am gonna make it the gym tomorrow). The weekend is wide open and with no major plans...which I am stoked about. I really look forward to the weekends that aren't packed and consist of doing whatever the heck I wanna do. I plan on trying to get in some shopping tomorrow for the house and maybe some time by the pool.

Happy Friday friends! Hope you have fantastic weekend!

Have y'all heard???

About the fabulous Clarisonic that is! Well  Miss Shasta is having an AAAAAMazing giveaway involving one. Go check it out. I am wanting one of these babies so so so bad!

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Happy 4th of July!

Wanted to take a moment to thank all of those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom so that each of us are able to live the lives we life. God bless the USA.

Weekend Re-cap
I drove to Whitesburg on friday after to work to visit my family. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Lexington. The drive is so nostalgic for me. There is just something about having the windows rolled down and country music turned up as you drive through the beautiful mountains tucked away in Eastern Ky.
Friday night we grubbed on my daddy's smoked ham, mamas homemade rolls, baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, and the most amazing chess bars. We were in a food coma afterwards and spent the remainder of the night just visiting in our sweats on the couch.
We spent the majority of Saturday laying by the pool followed by a down home country cookout with family and our neighbors. There was sooooo much good food that accompanied corn hole, volleyball, and horseshoe slinging. We took it easy Saturday evening and caught up on all the Casey Anthony trial...I have been obsessed with the coverage.
Sunday we all got up and went to church and came home to another meal compliments of Mom and Dad. Needless to say we did a LOT of eating and taking it easy, but I wouldn't change a thing. The doggies love going to their "country home" and it is always entertaining to have 4 large dogs in the mix. (My parents also have two boxers, Dempsey and Faith). Faith and Uggie are known to get a lil rowdy at times, typical of two females.

Enjoyed the 3 day weekend at home so much...nothing beats family. period!
 Happy 4th of July!
