The New Kitchen Table

So a month or so ago, Kevin Rex finally broke over and bought a kitchen table for the kitchenette/breakfast nook area.
There has literally been nothing in that area for far too long.
We both have been hating not having a place to sit and eat our meals. The dinning room feels too formal and the couch is too comfortable.
We both feel it is so important for couples and families to have dinners at the table. At church a few weeks ago, they discussed a study about families who ate dinner around the table vs. those who didn't. There were soooo many positive results surround the couples/families who spent time around the table TOGETHER.
So bottom line, sitting at the table together for meals is a priority for us.

Not only is the table about eating, but I use the table to do my notes from work. Kev likes to use the table to exercise the creative side of his brain. Which is OUT.of.This.WORLD. I swear he is gonna be the J.K. Rowling. Mark my word.

We so needed a table!

We went on a mission for a white country-esque table. Boy are those hard to find around good ole Lex.
After weeks of searching, low and behold we found what we were looking for.

I also brought over some of my favorite country white dishes to add to his baker rack.
This place is coming back together for sure :-)

My mama bought me this bowl for Christmas a couple years ago. It is one of my favorite pieces. It is a Longaberger dish. Us country gals loves us some Longaberger.

In the past several weeks we have went back to making dinner at the table a daily event.
No cell phones are allowed.

We spend the time before our meal praying
aloud for each other as individuals and as a couple
for our families
for the doggies
for new challenges ahead
for daily struggles
and for strength and patience.

We talk about the highs and lows of our days.
It's just us soaking each other up with no outside distractions.

Back when we had our first meal at the new table, I busted out the camera.
What was on the menu: sushi takeout. Woot woot!
Love him!

Kev knows just how to get the right angle huh? Ha
And I must admit, Bailey is sort of a begger at the dinner table. He usually lays his head on my lap the entire meal. I can give his Nana and Papaw credit for this habit.
One of my favorite times of the whole days.....
our prayers right before we indulge.

Sometimes it would be easy just to pile on the couch and stuff our faces, but I am so thankful we are making memories around our new table every day.
Can't wait for many many more.
Used Kitchen tables should be a staple in all households :-)

Sooo sweet :) Love the table, and love how important dinner time is to you guys. I seriously love it too... it's so comforting to come together at the table, pray, talk and share about the day.

Ps- Longaberger is the shiz! ;)

LOVE your new table, and I love the fact that you and your husband can enjoy this time together. It is so true that families who eat at the dinner table together have much more positive results :)

Aw, I love this! Your table kind of reminds me of ours... but where yours is white, ours is green. Love that style! Where'd you end up finding it???

I've been meaning to comment on how often you wear a baseball hat -- Can I just tell you how well would we get along in person because I own about 8 baseball hats and where them all of the time! I mean it... ALL OF THE TIME! Even when I go out to a bar, I might have a semi cute outfit on, I curl my hair and then put on a hat. It's kinda my thing. Love me a gal who where's a hat and is comfortable in it... even if it does hide dirty hair underneath ;)

And the picture of you and Kevin holding hands praying at the table. That's a beautiful picture and deserves to be printed out!!

Can we just meet already, damnit!!!

Whit! I love seeing how his place is coming together! Can I say y'alls yet? Cause I really want to :) I completely agree with you that having meals together at the table is very important. My parents always made a point to make that happen and I'm so thankful they did.

And hush your mouth, you look so adorable in that baseball cap! Rock it girl!! xoxo

When I initially commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added"
checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Thanks!

Hey administrator, I just wanted to give you a quick heads
up that your current Web address: http://www.blogger.com/comment.

g?blogID=8505072769491834527&postID=7378574477935633128 is being flagged as a

I would highly suggest having somebody look into it. You can
certainly lose a lot of site visitors due to this kind of issue.

Best of Luck.

Howdy this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs
use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I'm
assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I'm not very web savvy so I'm not 100% positive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Gday. I noticed your site title, "Blogger: Just a country girl" doesn't really reflect the content of your internet site. When composing your website title, do you think it's
most beneficial to write it for Web optimization or for your audience?
This is something I've been struggling with mainly because I want good search rankings but at the same time I want the best quality for my website visitors.
