Meet Oogy

My nose is stuck in this book:

Oogy is the heartwarming story of a dog who against all odds, overcomes the brutal life of a "bait dog" for dog fighting. This book tells the story about the  people who rescued this dog, that was literally left to die, and the family who adopted him and welcomed him into their home with open arms.

Not gonna lie, It has been so emotional for me that I have had to put it down and not pick it back up for days. I have the biggest sensitive spot for animals in my heart. My dream one day is to have a huge farm where I can just rescue tons and tons of dogs and rehabilitate them into happy homes or keep them forever. I have no tolerance for others who mistreat animals. I know I am a crazy dog owner who has a spoiled rotten dog, and I respect that some people don't spoil their dog like i do, however, there is no reason to mistreat a dog, or any other animal for that matter. Makes my blood boil!

Oogy has graced many magazines, travels with his owner for inspirational/motivational speaking, and has even been on Oprah. He is quite the lil celebrity.

A little something from the writer and family of Oogy...
"On a recent Saturday afternoon Oogy was curled up on the couch asleep, his head in my lap, and I was thinking about his life is now as opposed to the way his life had been before. Would he have sensed he was dying? Was he conscious when the police put him on a rubber sheet and took him to the Ardmore Animal Hospital? Oogy went to sleep in a world of terror and searing pain and awoke surrounded by angels in white coats who were kind to him, who stroked him gently and talked softly to him. Instead of people who baited and beat and kicked him, he was surrounded with healing mercies. I realized then that Oogy probably did not know he had not died and gone to heaven. So I told him. I said, “Listen pal. It only gets better after this.”". - Lary Levin, Author of Oogie

If you love a heart warming story about a dog with a very happy ending...this is your book!

Oh my goodness, I teared up just reading your post. Looks like I'm going to have to get this book this weekend (and a box of tissues). I don't understand how someone could be so cruel to a precious puppy, it just disgusts me!
