Rewinding our weekend on Tuesday this week...no big deal, right?!
Our weekend FLEW by. Even with having Friday off, I still need a day between Sunday and Monday.
Friday night was kinda casual. My brother and his girlfriend, Brittany, came down to spend the weekend with us. We went to a low key dinner at a local brew house. It was much needed, especially with all the chaos that has been going on with my brother the past few weeks. He seems so much more centered and stronger than I have ever seen him. I am so proud of him. He has been so strong for Mike's parents, visiting them daily before he heads back to college for his final semester. I know that will be hard, because he will not have his best friend there to experience that with him. Many hard days still ahead, but lately we have had some bright days, just reminiscing about the good times we had with Mike.
Kev and I headed to Western KY early Saturday morning for a couples baby shower. My sweet college and lifelong friend, Anne, and her hubby are expecting a baby girl in February.
Off we went...entertaining ourselves on the three hour trip.
I still can't believe this little cutie is going to be a Momma. She is too, too cute. I die!
Sweet baby Abbey can't get her soon enough.
Her Beatles themed shower was a hit! Saying Anne is obsessed with the Beatles is putting it very mildly. (remember her baby's name is spelled like Abbey Road and we all love it!!!! It's so Anne!)
The fellas made onesies for the future little one, while us gals chatted it up.
I will give you one guess which is Kev's........
if you said the one on the left, you are correct! #totaltrekkie
After the shower, Kev and I went back to Anne and Jeff's house to take a peek at the nursery. It's so cute. Filled with gray chevron and yellow accents galore....and a grand-daddy glider. It was just perfect!
Words can't describe how happy I am for them! We were thrilled to be a part of their special day and shower them with nothing but love for their expecting bundle of joy.
We headed back to NKY to meet back up with Baby Bro and Britt. They had invited us to go watch his college roomie play at a local dive bar in Cincinnati. Of course we were in! I let down my hair and we put on our young-twenty something faces and went out with the college kids. And we may have had a blast :-)
Ryan blew us all away....I was very impressed.
Kev and I felt like we were back at an EKU college football tailgate for my brother. There were so many former football players there and their families to watch Ryan perform. Felt like old times. All that was missing was our momma and daddy.
This gal, aka my future sissy-in-law, has been a rock for my family as of lately. My brother picked a good one, let me tell ya!

It was so great seeing my brother surrounded again by his college buddies. Almost every kid there had came to our hometown for Mike's funeral just two weeks ago. They loved him just like Charlie did....you had no choice. They were a package deal.
The night was so good for us all. It was good to see Charlie smile again. To hear him talk about the last time they had been there..it was of course with Mike. To hear all of his friends reminisce about the good times they shared with him and Mike. To just be normal again. It was good to see them being college kids....laughing and enjoying the moment. Not a care in the world about what tomorrow might bring.
Ryan even dedicated a song to Mike, and although there may have been a tear or two, I can see my brother is healing. We are all healing. Although he is gone, he will always live on through those who loved him most. My brother is living proof of that. I saw it in him first handed Saturday night.
We sent Char and Britt back to college Sunday afternoon. I can't believe they started their last semester yesterday. Can they not just stay babies??
We finished up the rest of Sunday with trip to the grocery, cleaning the house, meal prepping and lounging on the couch with the doggies. A great weekend if I do say so myself.
Happy Tuesday Y'all!!!
