Operation Patio

The husband and I love a good patio.
Like LOVE it.
Once the weather breaks in KY, you can guarantee we are sitting outside for all meals.
Last summer all of our time and attention was going toward the wedding and getting me all moved into Kev's house. We were busy lil bees. So as soon as spring hit Kentucky, we were on a full fledged mission....
aka Operation Patio.

I love coming home and having a drink with Kev on the patio
He loves eating his lunch outside with the doggies on the patio
We both love to have dinner outside on the patio
Uggie and Bailey LOVE being out on the patio
Being in nature is something we both thoroughly enjoy and we decided to spruce up the outdoor area ASAP.

We already had a table, chairs, umbrella and two wicker rockers.
We wanted to have a sitting area as well as a dinning area.
KR and I plan to host cookouts all Summer long....a shrimp boil is currently in the works.

We added a wicker love seat and two chairs, two colorful side tables, a wicker chest, a wicker bar area, two area rugs and a fire pit that my parent's got us last Christmas.

I had one request with our little adventure - BRIGHT COLORS. I wanted lots of bold and bright colors to liven up our back yard.
I HATED the cushions that came with the wicker furniture we picked out, but that can be changed out super easy....
And I found just what we were looking for a Pier1.
Ladies - they have TONS of bright, fun cushions that you can mix and match. Super cute stuff. They were having a 20% sale on most of them last weekend that they planned to extend.

Operation Patio was a success!
I still have to get my green thumb into gear and add some pretty flowers to our planters. We also plan to get lots of bright colored serving ware to add to the pieces we already have.

Uggie and Bailey totally approved and have already been loving how much time we have spending outdoors.
We have a few more decor items to add, but overall we are so pleased.
Y'all just come on over and sip some sweet tea with me in a mason jar. Mine may have bourbon it.....it's the KY girl in me :-)

Memorial Weekend Recap

Helllllo!

What a great memorial weekend! The weather was ammmmaazzzzing! Kev and I had no major plans and decided to spend the weekend sprucing around the house, hanging with friends, playing with the doggies, and grilling out.   It was fabulous.

Friday we kicked off the weekend with a suite at the Lexington Legend’s game (the Legend’s are a minor league baseball team here in Lexvegas).

Kev scored us the suite at a silent auction during a charity even we attended in April called “Wig Out.” The event raised money to purchase wigs for cancer patients.  Check out our cutesie wigs.

I couldn’t tell you a single thing about the baseball game, but I do know that we were surrounded with great friends and fellowship. It turned out to be an über fun night. I felt so blessed to have such a great group of people surrounding us.
Little brother came :) Made his sister very happy

so fun!
majority of the group...ignore the yucky white light in the photo.

Saturday morning we headed out for our first motorcycle ride of the season and stopped by the local Harley Davidson to check out their Memorial weekend festivities.  HD was having a very classy bikini contest (gag) and a stunt rider along with burgers and hotdogs.

We opted for lunch at our local fave, Harry’s. J

Sunday, we spent the morning at church and spent most of the afternoon doing errands around the house. Kev worked on our new patio set and grill that we plan to spend many evenings with, while I did some spring cleaning. I am talking some serious spring cleaning that required me to be on my hands and knees scrubbing baseboards and showers galore. I felt so accomplished afterwards…my momma would have been so proud.  I of course partook in my favorite Sunday ritual after church of visiting Orange Leaf frozen yogurt…the confetti cake is my absolute favorite.  Yum!

On Monday, I had to work a couple of hours while, but spent the evening grilling out with some friends on the new patio (patio = still work in progress). I made some delicious burgers and fresh corn on the cob. I completed the meal with a peach cobbler and veggie skewers that were pretty darn tasty as well.

the doggies are with us every step of the way

veggie skewers! please excuse my gross gym hair
I had a great weekend and took the time to reflect on those who have given their lives to allow us to do the things we do every day. I always think of my papaw that I never knew during the Memorial Day holiday. He died just before my mom found out she was pregnant with me. My 86 year old granny always displays the biggest and brightest floral arrangement at his gravesite with my mom every year on this weekend. I hated I couldn’t be at home to share the experience with them. Like so many others, he fought bravely for his country, and for that I am so grateful.  I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday filled with family, friends, appreciation, and love. God bless each and every one of us!
