Happy Birthday To ME!

Wednesday, June 15th this gal turned the big 27! 3 more years to 30...eeek!

The biggest news of me turning 27 is that i CHOPPED my hair off. I needed a change and wanted something easy for summer. My hair dresser is the BOMB DIGITY and if you live in Lexington and aren't getting you hair done by the fabulous Brooklyn...you are just missing out.

So I went from this...which may or may not have been all of my own hair

AND I LOVES IT!!!!!

I went out with my gal pals on tuesday to celebrate my birthday. WE had dinner and drinks and shared some great conversation. LOVE them to death!

Mom and Dad saved my over 300 buckaroos by paying for new Kentucky car title/tax/license (not really sure what the proper term is hehe) that has to be done every year for Pearly. FYI- pearly is my mode of transportation. Mom also got me some new garden tools and things for the house that were adorable.  And who can forget about my adorable wedges I mentioned in my last post :). Any who, I didnt need a single thing from them...just having them here with me was plenty. I love them so much!

Got a new Friends Of Coal plate for Pearly
I am so blessed and fortunate to have such amazing people in my life. Felt so so loved on my birthday.Saving my amazing birthday trip with Kevin Rex for the next post. Happy Saturday ladies! Enjoy your weekend :)

Weekend with the Fam Part I

Hello! Long time no blog. I have been super busy with house stuff and spent the weekend with my family doing odds and ends around the house. Here is a recap of all the work we did fun we had :)

I met my Momma and 87 year old Granny at the mall after work on friday. Although she may be 87, the lady is a serious, serious shopper. Maybe that is where I get it from. Granny was on a serious mission to find a summer straw bag and a new pair of black flats. Mission was accomplished

she is just so precious to me...granny with the doggies

Granny's new bag and flats for summer. adorable!
I got a a little birthday surprise from Mom and Dad during the mini shopping trip too :)
Mom and I both picked up a pair of these wedges for summer.

I also got these too as an early birthday present. Super excited to wear them

After we got home, first thing is first in this family....food.

Mama fired up the stove with new potatoes and gravy and fresh peas from their garden at home, while granny made us homemade cornbread...my fave.

My mom is an amazing cook

Granny whipping up some cornbread

if you are gonna make cornbread, you gotta have a cast iron skillet

I enjoyed her being here soooo much

Fresh green onions from the garden

We spent dinner on the back porch enjoying the beautiful weather. I was so happy to have them visit for the weekend. Unfortunately, my little brother was unable to make it :( However, he is coming down to visit me on Wednesday and Thursday for my birthday.

After dinner it was time to get down to business.

I had picked out several samples of paint last week for the dinning room. We wanted a burnt orange color to accent with brown and white pieces.
The color we decided on was called cinnamon cake.

Kev did all the masking work to prepare the walls for their new look.

Dad lead the charge and mom, dad, and kev got down to serious business. I like to think I took the responsibility as the "supervisor."  The pics make the color look more orange than what it actually is. The color has more red undertones than what my lighting gives it credit for.

I love this picture. Uggie loves her nana :) Uggie is so attached to my mom. It is so darn sweet.

Mom and dad stayed up till almost 3 am on friday night putting the finishing touches on the 1st and 2nd coat of paint.  And...drum roll please....the final look:

We love it! The dinning room is very warm and we cant wait to share many many meals in this room with our friends and family. Mom and Dad did such a great job and we enjoyed every single second of it.

missing a dinning room chair...but you get the idea

Hope you enjoyed the final product! We also painted our powder room  which i will share in a later post. It was a great DIY project and we had such good company along the way.

Mom and DAD - if you are reading...thank you soooo much for all your hard work this weekend. I love you all to pieces and I appreciate everything you do for me. You all are the best!

My birthday is tomorrow and we are taking a lil mini trip up to Cincinnati. I cant wait! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!
